Lily:Yes,I did. I toured around a couple of days there.I had a lot of fun.

Anna:Did you eat some special native food?

Lily:Well,yes. Fish and chips are very impressing.That's a classic national dish.

Anna:It's said that fish and chips is a must on any British menu. Do you know how to make it?

Lily:It's quite easy. First,you prepare the ingredients,including potato strips,all-purpose flour,baking powder and ground pepper.Then,mix the potato strips together with flour,baking powder,salt and pepper.Stir in the milk and egg until the mixture is smooth.Fry the potatoes in the hot oil until they are tender.Drain them on paper towels.Dredge the fish in the batter,and place them in the hot oil.Fry until the fish is golden brown and take it out.Finally,place the fish and chips in a tray.

Anna:Wow,it does sound not so hard. What about the dressing or dipping?

Lily:Serving with malt vinegar,lemon,or tartar sauce would be perfect.

Anna:I see. Bye,then.
