Parliament Hill
The Parliament Hill, or Parliament Building, stands near the Ottawa River. It is composed of three Gothic buildings and a green large piece of square. In the front is the famous clock tower on which the Canadian flag is flying. The National Day parade is hold in front of the Parliament Building which contains the old European-style. On the cool summer morning, the drill ceremony for Royal Guards to change the guard can be seen there. Rideau Canal
The Rideau Canal connects the Ottawa River and Lake Ontario, east to the Atlantic Ocean and west to the Great Lakes region, running through the whole city. The Historical Legend of Tulip Festival
Ottawa in May is truly fast-paced, beautiful tulips dotted the city of Ottawa into the city of a beautiful tulip flowers, many customers from around the world was attracted in here. There is a historical legend about the origin of tulips:
During World War II, the Netherlands was occupied by Germany. Dutch Princess Juliana came to Ottawa a refuge, and later, Princess Juliana pregnancy, but delivery can not be returned to the Netherlands, unfortunately, if the child was born in Canada, he automatically would become a Canadian citizen.
Finally, the Government of Canada gave a public hospital’s maternity ward temporarily donated to the Dutch government. On January 19, 1943, Li Anna gave birth to the third daughter, Princess Margaret.
On May 5, 1945, Canadian troops helped the Dutch win the war of liberation. The next day, the Canadian Forces in the Netherlands on behalf of the Allies accepted Germany’s surrender.
Then, Princess Juliana returned to celebrate, when the tulips was bloom at that time. The Dutch government decided to give Canada 100 thousand tulips, in order to expressed their respect and gratitude for the Canadian people.
In 1948, Princess Juliana topped the throne. She began to present Canada each year ten thousand tulips. Thanking for Queen’s kindness, Ottawa began to organize the annual Tulip Festival since 1953.
In 1995, Princess Margaret came to the Ottawa and presided Tulip Festival, in the year, the Ottawa Tulip Festival upgraded to Canadian Tulip Festival to witness the beautiful friendship between the people of Canada and the Netherlands.
Museum of Human Civilization

郁金香花展的历史传奇
五月的渥太华是名副其实的花花世界,美丽的郁金香把渥太华市区点缀成美丽的郁金香花都,吸引了无数来自世界各地的赏花客。这里有一个关于郁金香由来的历史传奇故事:
第二次世界大战期间,荷兰被德国占领。荷兰的朱莉安娜公主一家来到渥太华避难,后来,朱莉安娜公主怀孕了,但不能回到荷兰分娩,遗憾的是,如果孩子在加拿大出生,就自动成为加拿大公民。
最后,加拿大政府把渥太华市民医院的一间产房临时赠给了荷兰政府。1943年1月19日,莉安娜公主生下了第三个女儿玛格丽特。
1945年5月5日,加拿大军队帮助荷兰赢得了解放战争。第二天,加拿大部队代表盟军在荷兰接受了德国的投降。
接着,朱莉安娜公主回国庆祝,那时正是郁金香盛开的时候。荷兰政府当即决定送给加拿大十万株郁金香,以表达他们对加拿大人民的崇敬和感激之情。
1948年,朱莉安娜公主荣登王位。从此开始每年赠送加拿大渥太华一万株郁金香。渥太华为了答谢荷兰女王的好意,从1953年起开始举办一年一度的郁金香节。
1995年,玛格丽特公主来到渥太华主持了郁金香节,就在那一年,渥太华的郁金香节升格为加拿大郁金香节,以见证加拿大人民与荷兰人民之间的美好友谊。
人类文明博物馆
博物馆里的墙是落地玻璃大幕墙,它让渥太华河畔的风景融汇成一幅秀丽的大油画。博物馆的一楼展览原著居民的生活文化状况,二楼有展示世界儿童玩具,参观的儿童可以直接触摸玩具。四楼展出的是欧洲移民开拓加拿大的历史,有实物和仿制品,还配上影音介绍,使游客倍感亲切。
