British Museum lies in the Great Russell Square in London. It is the world’s oldest and largest comprehensive museum.

British Museum is located in the north of England’s great Russell Square, New Oxford Street, London. It was founded in 1753. It was officially open to the public in January 15, 1759. British Museum and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre in Paris are the world’s three major museums.
The admission of British Museum is free, because the British Government supports people to understand the history.

The Memorable History 值得回味的历史渊源
The origin of the British Museum is dating back to 1753. Mr. Hans Sloane was a famous collector, after his death in 1753, left personal collections of 1,700, there are a large number of plant specimens and books, manus. According to his will, all collections are donated to the state. The collection was finally handed over to the British Parliament.
On January 15, 1759, through public fundraising in the Building Museum’s funds, the museum was established in Montague Building near the city and open to the public.

In the early 19th century, the Montague building has become inadequate used. Jani’s Book of the Dead
Jani’s Book of the Dead is the greatest treasures of the British Museum. This is a painting dating back 3,200 years ago, painted on the toilet paper. Rosetta Stone
