烟草业让多数男性烟民认为,烟是男人扮酷的道具,烟使男人更显风流倜傥、冷静睿智。男人在香烟的纷扰里传承着意志,而香烟在男人的求索中迸出火花。在吞云吐雾的过程中,男人从香烟里吸取到更多的精华与能量,从男人嘴里吐出的一个个烟圈,也许就是香烟所渗透并释放出来的一个男人的气魄和灵魂。犹豫时,男人便吸着烟思索;开心时,他们会用烟犒劳自己;不顺心的时候,更需要用烟来放松自己,调节烦躁的情绪。目前,女性也正成为烟草商刻意培育的有潜力的消费群体,昆明医学院公共卫生学院肖霞博士介绍,全球男性吸烟率已达到饱和,在一些国家出现下降趋势,而女性吸烟率却处于上升阶段,并且呈现出年轻化趋势,这一现象在发展中国家尤其严重。“吸烟缓解压力”“吸烟代表开放和自由”“吸烟是时尚享受”“吸烟女性对男性更具吸引力”“给我一支烟,让抽出来的寂寞全都烟消云散”等说法,都是烟草公司作为促销手段向女性传递的文化符号,这些文化符号淡化甚至隐瞒了烟草对女性健康的危害。肖霞博士通过对历届世界无烟日主题研究发现,同为女性主题,1989年世界无烟日主题为“妇女与烟草:女性吸烟者面临更多风险”,而2010年焦点则集中在“关注针对女性的促销行为”,这一转变说明女性吸烟已越来越多地受到烟草公司促销行为的影响。
多方面共同努力是解决烟草全球蔓延这一问题的有效策略。目前,控烟仍需依靠多国、多部门合作,通过采取综合手段,包括采取教育、限制和立法方面的措施,辅之以有关的税收和物价政策,以及持续性地开展多学科研究和评价工作,以杜绝烟草对全人类造成的危害。
