By realizing that you are doing yourself great harm by retaining the bitter memory of these experiences—that you are not hurting those who have hurt you nearly so much as you are hurting yourself.Review what has happened in your mind, then picture in your mind's eye what you now realize you should have said and done.Assume your share of the blame and responsibility ...and,however justified you may feel for holding malice against your loved ones, let go now of all your hate and resentment.Know and believe that the law of compensation will take care of them, eventually, for their misdeeds and wrong thinking.Realize that as long as your attention is fixed on the past and its unhappiness and on losses you can never recover, you are holding yourself back from receiving new resources, new opportunities and new experiences of a happy nature.Remember: like attracts like: and you have been attracting a repetition of miserable feelings,as you have lived these experiences over and over.It isn't worth it.It will destroy all health and happiness in time, unless abandoned—and a new, positive attitude assumed.
Is there a difference between prayer and meditation?
Yes.Meditation is preparation for prayer, through relaxing the physical body of all tension, making the conscious mind passive and then, with your attention turned inward, entering upon prayerful visualization of those things you need and desire.
If your parents keep reminding you from childhood to the present day that you cannot succeed—how can you remove this block successfully?
This is a fine heritage for parents to pass on to a child into adulthood—a series of "you can't succeed" pictures! Your first step toward the liberation of your consciousness from this parental bondage is the realization that the moment you reject their negative concepts of you, these wrong pictures can no longer retain their hold over your mind. You have to believe that you can't succeed before you will fail.Put out of your mind all resentment of what your father and mother have done to you.As long as you remain bitter you will keep these unhappy pictures and their influence alive in your consciousness.Let go of this bitterness, and these pictures will be deprived of all nourishment in mind and die of starvation. There is much remaining in life for you that is good and worthwhile.Claim it—through right visualization and the exercise of faith in yourself and in the unfailing power of "that something" to bring you what you have long desired and deserved!
Let me determine if I understand you: you form the picture of your desire, consciously, and then, while being very quiet,it is reflected back to you, probably only for the fraction of a second! Is this reflection—seeing it—in your mind's eye? And is this what must happen, before the creative power within can be impelled to bring you effective results?
Yes,you have described the process very well. You first create the mental image of what you desire, and then project it upon the inner mental screen through an act of will, letting yourself feel a strong desire for the materialization of this picture in real life, having faith,at the same time, that what you have visualized has already been achieved in mind and is even now on the way to you!
With the world in such a turmoil, how can a person keep from worry and fear? How can the unpleasant happenings be kept out of mind?
By refusing to personalize those happenings which have no direct relation to you.Recognize that fear and worry will not correct the world situation, nor even help you solve any of your own problems. In fact, fear and worry are demoralizing and devitalizing. In time, they can destroy self-confidence,health and happiness.Realize that you, yourself, are reasonably well and happy now——and that your greatest contribution to yourself and others will always be the maintenance of a positive, cheerful, optimistic attitude.Stop living in a "hope for the best and fear the worst" state of mind. The worst hardly ever happens, and when you aim at the best, things always turn out better than you have thought possible.
What is the quickest way to relax?
I presume the quickest way would be to hit yourself on the head with a hammer—but the after-effects wouldn't be too desirable. The next quickest and the safest and sane way is to get off by yourself,if possible, sit down in an easy chair or stretch out on a cot,and let go of your physical body with your conscious mind ...lift arms and legs and drop them ...let the chair or bed support your entire body. You will feel a lightness and sense of buoyancy come over you. Then, with your body relaxed, let go of all feelings of tenseness in mind, brought about by high pressure, fear, worry or other emotional disturbances.Visualize a blank mental screen ...a quiet pool of water ...a calm, restful landscape…anything which suggests a peaceful, motionless area. The instant you have done this, you are relaxed; and it should take you less than two minutes—with practice—to let go in this manner.
Can you induce dreams,by suggestion, and cause your intuition to make known certain information to you in this way?
