口语点津
说过了“大人物”，当然要说说“小人物”了。“大人物”总和big 联系在一起，“小人物”自然和small联系得比较多。在美国口语中，small potato指的是“任何无用或无价值的东西”，特别指那些无名气的“小人物”。如：We are only small potatoes. The manager won't listen to us.（我们只是小人物，经理不会听我们的）。另外，“小人物，微不足道”的说法还有small beer，nobody/nothing，或者Jack-a-Lent（本意是“小玩偶”，也可以用来表示“小人物”）。
