Kyoto is a Chinese-style city. The names of many shops still have Chinese characters. China and Japan were getting along well with each other in Tang Dynasty. So the buildings in Kyoto are also very similar to the ancient city of ancient China.
Kyoto was divided into two parts. They were Tokyo and Xijing. Tokyo modeled on the Luoyang City, and Xijing modeled on Changan City in Tang Dynasty. In the center of north city was Miyagi where the royal families were located. Outside Miyagi was the Imperial City where the government officerooms stood. Out of the Imperial City was the capital where officials and civilians lived.
People always say that Kyoto is a “real Japan”, because Kyoto is rich in Japanese style. It is not only the origin of Japanese textiles, ceramics, lacquer wares, dyed fabrics and other traditional crafts, but also the prosperous land of Japanese tea ceremony and flower arrangement.
There are festival celebrations in Kyoto almost every day. Age Day is the most popular one. On that day, Kyoto’s 1,000 years of customs will be on display in front of tourists according to different styles. A thousand years of ancient history will make the Kyoto more and more glamorous.
